Brians First Broad Street Run is History!!

I had a great experience running the race on Sunday. I felt a lot better than expected.  I ended up with a 1:32:09 time for the ten mile run!!    That's 9.30 min Miles!!  Much better than I expected!  I came in 8,354th out of 19,111 people, and 5,517th out of 9,821 Men!

Well, I gotta start doing better among men, but overall, I did great!!  Thanks for your support.  Now on to the next challenge!  What's that you ask????

Of Course: The MS 150!!!

Well We did it!  We survived Disney World!

The week of April 12-19th Amanda and I, along with my in-laws Mary and Dennis Kelly, took Abby and Brendan to Disney World in Florida!  We stayed at the Kelly's condo at the Marriot Grande Vista Resort, which they own as a timeshare.  It is located in Orlando, near Kissamee.  It's actually very close to Sea World.  The resort was beautiful and full service including multiple pools, a market, kids play room, golf and exercise facilities.

We went to Disney's Magic Kingdon on Sunday the 13th, and Tuesday the 15th, and then to Disney Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM) on Thursday the 17th.  On Wednesday night, Amanda, Mary and Abby went to the Pirates and Princeses night at the park.  Also on Wednesday, we drove out to Cocoa Beach. It was beautiful as well, but a little windy.

The first day at Disney, it rained on us.

But eventually it stopped, and we enjoyed the day.  We rode the Monorail:

And we saw the famous Parade:

The kids waved at Mickey!

And there were the usual suspects: dwarfs; a singing cricket; wooden-boy puppets; dancing chipmunks; and talking ducks; not to mention a few princesses!

Later we saw some Pirates: The Caribean kind, and some from Never Never Land (Captain Hook and Mr Smee!)

Then we saw Peter Pan and Wendy:

And we met Buzz Light Year too!

On our second day, we went shopping, and tried on some hats:

Then we had breakfast with the characters: Chef Mickey and his gang!:

Later, we shot at aliens on the Buzz Light Year ride.

On the third day,  at night actually, Abby, Amanda, and Mimi went back for "Pirates and Princesses"

Abby wore her "Belle" dress                               and got to meet Ariel

It was all about the Princesses!  They were all there! ( And a few Pirates too)

The next day we went to Hollywood Studios (aka MGM)  There we ran into Buzz again, and he was with Woody!

And Seargent Soldier was there too!

At "Honey I Shrunk the Kids", it's not a Small World...It's a Big World!!

We saw a lot of great shows, but the absolute highlight was when Amanda got to fulfill her dream, and was picked to participate in the Indiana Jones Show as an Extra!!

This is Amanda pretending something is falling on her,       And here she is (on the end) in costume!

This is the action on the movie set with Amanda and cast re-enacting an exciting scene

 Amanda helps Indiana Jones!

You will have to imagine the Indiana Jones music playing while you watch.

I forgot to tell you about the Aligator we saw at our hotel! It was lurking very near the pool!

Also, Breaking News!  Brendan has had major breakthroughs on his Potty Training.  As I said before, we wanted to get him trained by the Disney trip, and guess what?? We spent a lot of time at Disney taking him into bathrooms to potty!  I know it grosses you non-parents out, but the rest of us get the significance of this!!  He is out of pull-ups and wearing big-boy underwear!  Woohoo!  Throw out the diaper pail!!  Now I know why grandparents say "no" to diaper duty!  They spent enough years doing it, and never want to again.

In other unexpected news, I, Brian, am coaching Abby's Tee-ball team this year!  We are the Dodgers!  "Dodgers Rock!!!"
