UPDATE June 23, 2008:  I missed the application deadline for Rutgers, but it may have been for a reason - I am going back to TEACHING!!!  The principal at St. Stephen's approached me about teaching there, and I said "let's talk".  Talking led to a sample lesson which led to a job offer.  I really didn't think she would actually offer me a position, but I am now the 5th grade teacher!  I resigned as Program Director of the After School Program with a last day of August 15.  Now all I have to do is get out of Pathmark!!

LATEST NEWS:  Amanda is finally making plans to go back to school!  She is planning to further her education by obtaining a masters degree in Non-profit Management.  She loves raising money for the program, and she is very successful at it.  She has Over-raised (raised more than her goal) for the after school program for the last three years, as well as underspnt the budget.  She is obviously a tremendous asset to any nonproffit agency, an she hopes to capitalize on that by going back to school.  She is trying to get in to Rutgers University this fall, 2008.  Wish her luck!

Also, she has resigned from her current position as President (she finished her term, just didn't want to be reelected) of the Junior Womens Club of Merchantviille.  She also has completed her responsibilities for the state board, so now she will be free to concentrate on getting that Masters at Rugers!!

She has added one thing to her daily schedule however.  SHe has taken to vounteering at St. Stephens School, where Abby goes,  to help in the lunch room.  She says it is crazy, but a lot of fun.  Brendan comes and is getting to know some of the kids.  This will make it easier for him next fall when he start Pre-K 4 there!

PREVIOUSLY WRITTEN:

Amanda is getting ready for the new school season (2007-08).  She is back as director of the After School Program for the First United Methodist Church of Germantown where she has been for the last several years.

She is also working part time at Pathmark (grocery store).  They love her there.  She, well...not so much. But it helps pay the bills.

Amanda is also the president of the Junior Woman's Club of Merchantvile.

This just in:

Amanda gets Appendicitis!!

Yes yes.  Sunday night (November 18) Amanda couldn't sleep due to severe stomach pains.  After much discussion, she called the doctor at 2:30 am, and was told to go to the hospital!  Since the kids were asleep, she called her parents and her dad Dennis Kelly came over and took her to the emergency room.  I stayed home and in the morning Dennis called to tell me it was appendicitis!!  Wow!!  So I got Abby to school, and Brendan went to Mimi's, and went to sit with her at the hospital.  Finally at about noon on Monday, they finally got her into the operating room.  Everything went fine, and she stayed the night in the hospital.  She called me this morning and said even though she slept horribly in the hospital (what's new), she felt fine, and was able to get up and around, and she had some breakefast.  The doctors expect her to be relaseased after lunch today.  If anybody has any questions or wants to talk to her, she will be home Tuesday evening, and home all day Wednesday, and the rest of the weekend.   You can also e-mail her at amandajpark@verizon.net.

Obviously we won't be hosting Thanksgiving anymore!!  So my mother-in-law Mary Kelly stepped up to have the meal yet again at her house.  I will be helping with the cooking!  Also, my niece Mia WILL be attending with her boyfriend Ben!
